countries providing employment to 83,000 people is the largest oil refining
company in the world. It is also one of the largest publicly traded companies
in the world. According to study made at the end of 2007, the company has
reserves of 72 billion oil-equivalents which are expected to last over 14
years.
Royal Dutch Shell
Second in the list of top ten richest companies in the world is
the Royal Dutch Shell. This is also a global oil and gas company with
headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands and London, United Kingdom. Leading the
company is its CEO Peter Voser. Royal Dutch Shell having its branches in 90
countries has over 44,000 service stations and provide direct employment to
112,000 people. The company mainly not only deals with the refining of natural
oil and gas but also is involved in exploring and producing, distributing and
marketing, petrochemicals, power generation and trading. The company in the
year 2012 was able to generate $470 billion of revenue.
Wal-Mart
Third in the list is Wal-Mart – an American public multinational
corporation that runs chains of large discount department stores and warehouse
stores. This retailer company was founded in 1962 by Sam Walton. Having its
headquarter in Bentonville, Arkansas; Wal-Mart has 8,500 stores in 15 different
countries under 55 different names. Working for the company are its 2,150,000
employees, which is why Wal-Mart is named the biggest private employer. The
company in 2012 generated a revenue of $446 billion.
BP (British Petroleum)
Generating over $386.4 billion in 2012, BP is the world’s fourth
richest company. BP again is an oil and gas refining company with its
headquarter located in London, United Kingdom. The company was first founded in
1909 under the name Anglo-Persian Oil Company which later was converted to
British Petroleum (BP) in 1954. Heading the company is CEO Bob Duddly. BP
mainly produces aviation oil and motor oil. Working for the company are its

tons of oil every year.

another richest company in the world. It is one of the major state owned

of petrochemicals, chemical fibers, chemical fertilizers, and other chemical
products; storage and pipeline transportation of crude oil and natural gas;
import, export and import/export agency business of crude oil, natural gas,

generated $273.4 billion in revenue has 400,500 employees working for it.
Chevron
Ranked 7th in the list, Chevron is also an oil and gas
company. Situated in San Ramon, California, the company operated in over 180
countries around the world. Having 61,500 employees working around the clock,
the company generated around $253.7 billion in revenue in 2012.
